Teacher Appreciation Week is a big week! I always like to do something to show my appreciation. That’s why I like volunteering to do our Teacher Appreciation door decoration. So, I made this super simple but super adorable decoration. I have everything you need. Check it out.

I actually designed this door decoration two years ago right before COVID started around the world. School went online and I wasn’t able to decorate our teacher’s door. So, I kept all the supplies stored away until I had another opportunity. I was so happy to actually see it all come together. Here’s how you can do one yourself.

Step #1: Print and cut out your letters

Sometimes it’s hard to know how large to print and cut out the letters. So I did all of that for you. Just click on the link below. The letters can be printed on 8.5×11 paper on your printer at home. You can also use this free printable to cut the letters out on your Cricut or Silhouette.

Step #2: Glue letters to poster paper

Every school has different door dimensions. So, you’ll want to measure your teacher’s door before you start working on the poster. Our school doors are 35″ x 83″. Most of the time, your school will let you get your poster paper for free or you can buy some on Amazon. I just grabbed a large sheet of pink paper and cut it to the correct dimensions.

Lay out your letters where you’ll want them on the poster before you start gluing. I found that large glue sticks worked the best. Then roll up your poster and hang it up on the teacher’s door before you start taping on the poms poms.

Step #3: Hang your pink pom poms

You can get as creative as you want with these pom poms. I bought about six packages of pom poms from the Dollar Store but you could buy poms poms of all shapes and sizes to add variety to your door decoration.

Keep in mind that it takes quite a while to fan out all of the pom poms. But they are so adorable. The more you can fit on the poster, the cuter it will look. I ended up with about 30 small pink pom poms but I think I could have hung even more.

Ninja Turtle Teacher Appreciation Door

This ninja turtle door decoration is screaming awesomeness. And it’s super easy. So whether it’s a birthday party or teacher appreciation week, whip out the butcher paper because it’s turtle time baby!

So, I always sign up to decorate a door for teacher appreciation week and then almost immediately I think, “What did I get myself into?” But this year, was stress free. I went with this simple ninja turtle design and it was stress-free all the way. Here’s how I did it.

Gather your ninja turtle poster supplies

Hopefully your school will provide butcher paper, but if not, you can get it at most party supply stores like Zurchers or Partyland. Here’s what you’ll need:

• Large piece of green butcher paper (the doors I decorated were 82″x29″).
• Additional colors of butcher paper about 40″ long including purple, light green, orange, black and white or whatever colors you would like
• Elmer’s glue
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Black permanent marker

Cut to size and start drawing

Measure out the size of the door you are decorating. Cut down your green butcher paper to the same dimensions as the door. Then, pick which color you want for the ninja turtle’s mask and make sure that paper is the same dimensions as the width of the door.

This is when it gets tricky. Using the image above, draw the mask on the paper and then cut out the shape. I’m not much of an artist but thankfully, it wasn’t too hard.

Finish the mask and outline

The mask doesn’t look like much after you cut it out, but as you add the white and black to the eyes and outline it, it starts to really take shape.

Don’t forget to draw the mouth. Since I was matching two posters, I drew two of these, cut them out and outlined them in black permanent marker.

Add finishing touches

By the time I finished the mask, it was 11 p.m., so I decided to make some stars in different colors and tape them on the empty open spaces. I could have cut out individual letters but I lost all motivation. Instead I just wrote everything out with black permanent marker and it turned out great as well.

Add a pool noodle garland for fun

I had some extra pool noodles from another project (I made a life-size Blobby). So, I cut them up, threaded them with fishing line and tied them off. I hung the pool noodle garlands all around the windows and it turned out super cute. Here’s a video of how I made them below.

This classroom door decoration idea for Teacher Appreciation Week is so cute. And there are like a bazillion of these ideas online. But I want to make your life easier. So keeping reading and you’ll see how my quick cut-and-paste process will make this project a snap.

Step #1: Gather door decoration supplies

Most schools will allow you to use their paper and other supplies to help you create your door decoration. I definitely took full advantage and gathered all the paper I needed.  Here’s a list of supplies that you’ll need:

• Colored butcher paper (blue, black, red, yellow, orange, green and brown)
• Glue
• Scissors
• White paper
• Tape
• Measuring tape
• Pen

Step #2: Assemble the background

The doors at our school are 35 inches x 83 inches. The blue butcher paper should be at least 60 inches long and the brown butcher paper should be at least 50 inches long. I overlapped the brown over the blue and made sure the final product was 83 inches long then I taped them together.

Step #3: Prep and glue the cutouts

I designed my door decoration ahead of time so it would be easier to put together. Use the design below as a guide to put together your door decoration.

Some of the items on the door decoration were small enough that I could print them on 8.5×11 paper and just cut them out. Here’s a FREE PRINTABLE – Door Decoration cutouts that you can print at home. Cut out each item and them lay them out on your background and them glue them into place.

Step #4: Cutout and glue remaining pieces

Here’s where you can use your creativity. Using the guide in step three, cut out the trees, tent, campfire and roasting stick. You kind of just have to eyeball it and see what looks good. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Then glue it into place.

Step #5: Tape it to the door

I made my door decoration ahead of time so that all I had to do was tape it to the door when I got to the school.  It was a piece of cake and turned out pretty good.
