Do you want to see a bunch of wild and humongous crocodiles up close for free? Well, you’re in good company. Crocodile Bridge in Costa Rica could be one of the most visited tourist attractions in the entire country. And for good reason. It’s super cool. So let me tell you how you can see it as well.

Considering the fact that Costa Rica is one of the most expensive Central American countries, our family of seven enthusiastically put Crocodile Bridge in Costa Rica at the top of our list. I’m all about free. And it’s super easy to find. Here’s everything you need to know.

History of Crocodile Bridge in Costa Rica

Crocodile bridge crosses the Rio Tarcoles and is actually part of Carara National Park. According to the Tico Times, prior to the construction of the well-known crocodile bridge, the only way to cross the Rio Tarcoles was by a wooden ferry and a very small one at that. Loaded with only enough room for a few vehicles you would have to patiently wait to cross onto the other side to continue on your way.

Today, the Tarcoles River is estimated to have about 2,000 crocodiles. The bridge has been reconstructed to accommodate the large amount of visitors it receives each day. There is a large blue safety rail and a cement barricade to keep tourists safe from all the cars driving by and from falling into the river.

How to get there

This popular tourist attraction is located about halfway between downtown San Jose and Jaco beach. Take Highway 1, then Highway 27 and then take the Jaco exit. Continue on Highway 34 until you reach the bridge. You can park on the side of the road right or in front of one of the restaurants right before the bridge. Local law enforcement is usually there during busy hours to mitigate theft. There are also guys that you can pay 300 colones to watch your car while you are gone.

Advice while checking out the crocs

As you walk onto the bridge, you can peer over the side and see the crocodiles. Here are some helpful tips and tricks:

• Visit during low tide when the crocs are sunbathing on the banks
• Bring binoculars for a better view
• Don’t swim in the river (heavily polluted and super dangerous)
• Help out the vendors with a few colones
• Lock your car doors before heading to the bridge
• It is illegal to throw anything (including food) down to the crocs
• Stay on the designated sidewalk due to heavy traffic on that highway
• Don’t do anything stupid like hang off the side of the bridge
• Take lots of pictures!

We came on day when there were about four crocodiles hanging out below the bridge. Included in the mix was the biggest crocodile I had ever seen. He was a monster. Apparently, sometimes there can be up to 20 to 30 crocodiles hanging out. It just depends on the day.

Grab a bite to eat

If you’re hungry while visiting Crocodile Bridge in Costa Rica, there is a restaurant called Hacienda Nosavar that offers delicious Costa Rican cuisine. You can also use the bathroom and get some coffee.

A word of caution

For the most part, visitors to the bridge are respectful of the rules while viewing the crocodiles. However, in 2014, an intoxicated tourist decided to take a swim in the river. The man was pulled under the water by at least 6 crocodiles. Eventually 20 crocodiles circled the man and tore him to pieces. Local officials were unable to locate most of his remains. So, don’t be stupid. These are wild animals in their natural habitat.

Being pregnant is so exciting! Every mom can’t wait for that big day when her new baby finally arrives. It’s like Christmas but for adults, ha ha! That’s why I created this adorable 40-week pregnancy countdown so you can mark off every week that you get closer to meeting your little one. Check it out.

So, I am well into my 30th week of pregnancy. This will be baby number five and we’re finally getting our girl. Yay! I have to admit even after having four babies, I still get nervous, excited and scared all at the same time. Plus, people are always asking me how far along I am. Fill in the dates on the countdown

Once you’ve printed off your countdown, write down the beginning date of each week of your pregnancy. To figure out the exact weeks leading up to your due date, you can buy a pregnancy calculator wheel online. Or, you can use one of the many pregnancy due date calculators available online.

Start adding your stickers

The funnest part is adding your stickers each week. If you have kids, it’s also really fun to get them involved and let them add stickers week by week as well. I purchased my stickers at the Dollar Store. I tried to get some shimmery pastel-colored stickers that matched the colors of the printable. They turned out adorable.

I loved the way this pregnancy countdown turned out. It’s such a fun and easy way to remember this exciting time in your life. If you’ve never made puffy paint plastic cutouts before, then you’re missing out. This is the perfect afternoon activity for kids full of energy. Plus it’s so easy, even toddlers can do it. So, let’s get started!

My son got the idea to use puffy paints with plastic cutouts the other day. We already had the puffy paints so the rest was really easy. The kids really loved it. Here’s how you can do yours today.

Print and cutout your templates

So, you have eight different plastic cutouts to choose from. Click on the link below to download your FREE template right now:

You can choose from a bubble gum machine, fish bowl, snow globe, microwave, window, mason jars, swimming goggles and a TV. All of my kids were so excited about all of the options.

Once you’ve chosen your templates, cut them out and then cut a hole in the corresponding area where you will be attaching the plastic.

Attach plastic sheet to template

Next, you’ll need either some gallon Ziploc bags, clear plastic sheets, or sheet protectors. Cut a section of plastic that is slightly larger than the hole on the cutout. Then just hot glue the plastic to the template.

We ended up cutting out almost all of the templates. My kids wanted to do them all. I did all of the prep work so the kids could just have fun using the puffy paints.

Start adding your puffy paints

Now for the fun part. Let your kids choose which template they would like. Then, give them the puffy paints and let them use their imaginations.

All of our puffy paint plastic cutouts turned out so cute. Each of my kids added their own special touch. They had a lot of fun doing it too. Make sure you allow the puffy paints to dry overnight before you touch it. Your kids are going to love it!

Gather your supplies

So, the beauty of this neighbor gift is its simplicity. Aside from the printable tags above, you only need a few supplies:

• Danish Style Butter Cookies (4oz or 12 oz)
• Christmas ribbon
• Hole punch
• Scissors
• Candy canes (optional)

Assemble your Christmas gift

Tie a cute bow around your butter cookie tin and attach your gift tag and that’s it! I also added a couple of candy canes on the top. This is a much better option that stirring over a hot stove waiting for your homemade caramels to cook. So, you’re welcome!

What is the Book of Mormon?

For those of you who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Book of Mormon is a book of scripture that takes place in the ancient Americas and is a compilation of spiritual and historical records written by prophets. It is not a replacement or substitute for the Holy Bible but a companion to it and testifies of Jesus Christ and his life and mission.

Latter-day Saints believe that the Book of Mormon is a sacred book. That’s why many members, such as myself, hang visual representations of this book of scripture as a reminder of our beliefs.

In my opinion, you can’t have too many Halloween decorations, especially when they are free. That’s why this fun printable Halloween wall art is the perfect decor for any home this spooky season. Check it out.

So, I can’t take credit for thinking up these witty sayings. I saw them at a hospital gift shop and decided to compile them into some fun Halloween wall art printables. Now, you can have them too!

Print your Halloween wall art

I wanted to make these Halloween printables versatile for any home. So, I created two different sizes that you can print out. You can either print them larger as 8″ x 10″ or a smaller size as 4″ x 6″. See below. Send this downloaded PDF to your local printer. You can also laminate them so they don’t wear out as easily.

Assemble your wall art

So, both of these printable files allow you to frame your wall art in 4×6 frames or 8×10 frames. However, I decided to attach my printables to some white canvases. You just need some Modge Podge and a brush.

Spread Modge Podge onto the canvas first and then attached the picture. Then spread another layer of Modge Podge directly on the picture. Make sure you don’t use an image that you just printed at home. The ink ill smear. You need to laminate your picture or print it on photo paper.

Hang your wall art

After you’ve allowed your wall art to dry, now is the time to find the perfect spot in your home to hang them. The small 4×6 pictures can be placed on a small easel in small spaces throughout your home such as the bathroom counter, a small shelf or a side table. Or you can combine the pictures to make a cute collage on your wall.

These cute Halloween sayings can also double as gift tags or table decor for your next Halloween shin dig.

So, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that children can choose to become members of our church at the age of accountability which is eight years old. My son, Tim, made the decision to be baptized and we wanted to make sure he understood the significance of this decision. These baptism gift tags explain in a fun way what he is committing to do. Gather your gift basket supplies

You can make the basket as elaborate or as simple as you would like. Each of the tags corresponds with a specific item in the basket as follows:

• Pack of gum = Chews the right
• Gummie Life Savers = You can be a life save when you serve others
• Gummy Bears = Don’t forget to bear the name of Jesus Christ
• Pillow case or pillow = Pray every time your head hits the pillow
• Bookmark or scriptures = Read your scriptures every day
• Erasers = You can always repent and erase your mistakes
• Blanket = The Holy Ghost can comfort you like a warm blanket
• Flashlight = Let the Holy Ghost light the way in your life
• Swedish Fish = You are o-fish-ally a member of the church
• Powdered donuts = Donut forget to pray
• Scripture marking pens = Scriptures can be remarkable in your life
• Pop Rocks = Getting baptized rocks

Assemble your gift basket

Cut out each of the gift tags with a paper cutter or scissors. Then punch a hole in each one. I wrapped a yellow ribbon around each gift and then attached the baptism gift tags to each one.

My son was super excited to see the variety of gifts in the basket. He couldn’t believe everything in the basket was for him.

I added some crumpled tissue paper to the bottom of a cute basket and then added all of the different gifts. I gave my son the basket right before his baptism and read each tag to him. He loved it.

Tim’s baptism ended up being so memorable. I know he felt so special that day and I am so proud of him for making this important decision.

Keep your kids and your pocket book happy with these eight cheap or free and super fun activities near Malibu and along scenic Highway 1 that everyone will love. Check it out!

We recently went camping on the beach in California. It was a blast. And even with four kids in tow, we found plenty of fun activities that were either free or super cheap. Check it out.

Thornhill Broome Campground

Okay, so, this is an awesome campground right on the beach. We stayed there for six days. We saw dolphins and sea lions jumping every morning and splashed in the waves all day. For $35 per night, that’s a steal. To learn all about this campground, check out my detailed post by clicking here.

Highway 1 Sandy Dune

Just south of Thornhill Broome Campground, there’s a giant sand dune on the east side of the road. It’s a beautiful place to spot, especially at sunset. Our kids loved running up and down the soft sand. Grab a lunch and enjoy the view.

Point Mugu Missile Park

Just off the north end of Highway 1, minutes from Malibu, you can stop and visit the Point Mugu Missile Park. This park displays numerous aircraft and missiles that were tested at Naval Air Station Point Mugu. It’s a short visit but my boys loved it. It’s also a great place to stop and eat lunch or dinner. Best of all, it’s free!

Ventura Pier and Promenade

If you’re visiting the missile park, you might as well drive another 20 minutes north and visit the Ventura Pier and Promenade. Take a stroll down one of California’s oldest piers and then enjoy a surrey ride for $25 along the promenade. We watched kite surfers along the beach and enjoyed the salty air. It was so fun!

El Matador Beach

This popular beach does not disappoint. If you can catch it during low tide, there’s lots of cool caves to explore. And even at high tide, it’s still fun. Keep in mind, there’s lots of stairs to descend in order to get to the beach.

Leo Carrillo Tide Pools

Not far from El Matador Beach, is Leo Carrillo Beach. At low tide, this beach is a treasure trove of tide pools ready to be explored. My kids couldn’t get enough of all the creature and treasures. Definitely a must.

Santa Monica Pier

This iconic pier is worth a visit. Even during the pandemic, it was amazing. Normally crowded with street performers, this pier was quiet and scenic. We loved it.

Randy’s Donuts

Okay, Randy’s Donuts isn’t really anywhere near Malibu, however, we had to stop there. We grabbed a yummy donut and took some pictures in front of this well-known landmark. You might recognize it from Iron Man 2.

Well, there you have it! These are all the fun things we did on our trip to Malibu. We absolutely loved exploring Highway 1 and were delighted by all the fun and family-friendly activities along the way.

This is first and last LDS General Conference printable you’ll ever need! It’s chock full of fun activities to keep your kids engaged and entertained for each session. Plus it’s re-usable! Yes!

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have the opportunity to watch a series of two-hour live broadcasts every April and October from the comfort our own homes. We listen to leaders of our church provide guidance and teachings.

Each session is wonderful, but sometimes it can be challenge to keep our kids entertained and engaged. That’s why I created this re-usable general conference printable for kids. You might even be able to get something out of conference this time around!

Print your General Conference printable

Just click on the link below to download your FREE General Conference printable. I offer this printable for FREE to all visitors of my blog, but if you’d like to show your support, feel free to buy me a taco .

Once you download your PDF, email it to your local copy store. Have them print your activity page on 11×17 cardstock and then laminate it. Of course, you don’t have to laminate it if you don’t want to. You can just print it on regular paper.

Gather supplies

So, the whole point of laminating these pages is so that you can use them again and again. But of course, they won’t work unless you use dry-erase markers. I found some really cool ultra fine-tip dry erase markers that work awesome.

If you decide not to laminate your printable, you can just use some colored pencils or crayons.

Use incentives or prizes

So, there are eight engaging activities on this printable. As your kids complete each activity, you can give them a prize. It could be a scratch and sniff sticker, treat or small toy. That way, they will be motivated to listen to General Conference and hopefully get something out of it. Here’s a list of the activities that are included:

• List all the speakers
• What is your favorite talk?
• General Conference Bingo
• List five songs that were sung during conference
• Color the ties of the speakers
• How many times do you hear Jesus?
• Draw your favorite story that you hear
• Color the picture quotes

After conference is over, just take a picture of your kids’ completed printables. Then, you can just wash off the printable and save it for the next conference!
