If you didn’t already hear, candy kabobs are all the craze and for good reason. They are super easy to make and are perfect for basically any gift-giving occasion. I’m talking birthdays, graduation, get well, Christmas and the list goes on. So, without further ado, here’s how to make these delicious sweet treats.

I’m always looking for fun craft and gift ideas. And a candy kabob is perfect. They are so super cute. I love them so much. Plus, they really aren’t very expensive or difficult to make. Here’s how to do it in three easy steps.

Gather your candy kabob supplies

There are lots of adorable combinations of candies that you can include on your kabobs, but you’ll mainly want to stick with big gumballs, marshmallows and gummy candies. Just head down the candy aisle and pick out your favorite sweets. I was able to find most of the candies at the dollar store.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• 12-inch wooden bamboo skewers
• 3″x11″ clear long cellophane bags
• White melting chocolate (to dip regular marshmallow in sprinkles)
• Colorful sprinkles (to dip onto regular marshmallows)
• Regular marshmallows
• Giant gumballs
• Marshmallow twists, swirls and fruit slices
• Haribo Peaches and watermelons
• Gummy worms, sharks and bears
• Nerds Gummy Clusters
• Rainbow sour rolls
• Mini swirl lollipops

Prep skewers, marshmallows & gumballs

There is a little bit of prep before you can start adding your candy to your skewers. You’ll want to soak your skewers in some water for about five minutes. Then, take each skewer out of the water and dry them with a towel one by one as you make the kabobs. This makes it so the candy doesn’t stick to the skewer as you are threading them on. Trust me. This step is a must.

While you are waiting for your skewers to soak, you can prep your marshmallows and gumballs. Using a small amount of melted white chocolate, dip the circular ends of a marshmallow into the chocolate and then sprinkles. Allow to dry. These decorated marshmallows add a really fun and colorful pop to the candy kabobs.

Then, you’ll want to cut a two small holes on opposite sides of the giant gumballs. Just hold the gumball firmly on the counter and mark an X on both sides with a knife. Then, you should be able to easily slide the gumball onto the skewer.

Start adding candies to your skewers

At first I was really intentional about the candies that I was threading onto the skewers, but after a while, I just started adding whatever. Basically, if you get the right candies, the kabobs will turn out adorable not matter what order you put them in. There are tons of flavors in this fun treat. I did however, make sure that I put a marshmallow on the top so that I could put the stick of the rainbow lollipop through the marshmallow at the top to hold it in place.

Make sure you arrange the candies so they are all facing the same direction. Maximize the cuteness of each candy. Leave about 4 inches empty from the bottom of the skewer.

Wrap in cellophane and add a ribbon

The last and final step is to wrap your completed candy kabob in the long cellophane wrapper and then tie a ribbon or a twist tie at the end. Make sure you tie it really tight so the candy stays nice and fresh. Some of the rainbow lollipops were kind of sticky, so I actually individually wrapped the lollipops in a small sucker wrapper and that that helped get the cellophane wrapper on easier.

That’s it! I just loved the way these kabobs turned out. They are so cute I almost don’t want to eat them (but I will eventually). Feel free to add a gift tag to your kabob as well. You can also swap the candies with holiday candies like Halloween, Christmas and Easter depending on the time of year.

There’s something about a DIY candy bouquet. It’s the perfect gift for almost any occasion. But don’t buy one at the store. Make one yourself and save lots of money! It’s an awesome idea for a homemade gift on a special day. Here’s how to do it right now.

I actually made these candy bouquets for some kids in our neighborhood whose dad had recently passed away. I wanted to make something fun and give them a special gift that would bring a smile to their faces. Well, it worked! It was so much fun. They loved it so much and made them feel so loved. But it’s a great idea for all occasions such as Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day or other special occasions. Here’s how you can make one as well.

Gather your DIY candy bouquet supplies

These candy arrangements are so versatile. You can cater them to whatever the person you are giving them to likes. Here’s the supplies that I used, but feel free to substitute the various candies with whatever you want. I got all of these supplies at the Dollar Stores but you can get them at thrift stores or craft stores as well. Since I already had some ribbon, glue gun and tape at home, it only cost me about $10 for everything!

• Floral block, or floral foam (2.9×3.9×3.9)
• Wooden skewers (or popsicle sticks in a pinch)
• Scotch tape
• Wire-edged ribbon
• Hot glue gun
• 12 regular Airhead candies
• Curling ribbon or pieces of tissue paper
• 15-20 mini candy bars (different varieties)

Glue Airheads to the foam block

This specific foam block (2.9×3.9×3.9) fits three Airheads on each side perfectly. If you can’t find a foam block in these dimensions, you can cut the foam block down to size. Or you can find other candy bars that will fit the dimensions you are looking for.

First thing, I just hot glued each Airhead to the base of the foam block. The Airheads will extend higher than the foam block but that’s okay.

Add your candy skewers

You’ll want to tape a skewer and some curling ribbon to the back of the candy bar that you’ll be including in the DIY candy bouquet. Shorten the skewers that will be towards the front of the bouquet.

Just stick the skewers (with the candy attached) into the foam block a couple of inches. I put the larger candies towards the back and the smaller candies towards the front. Arrange it however you would like. I tried to fill in empty spaces fit as many candies as I could to make it look really full. You can create any color scheme and any favorite treats that you want. Here’s a little video of how I did it.

Add a bow and name tag

To finish on the DIY candy bouquet, I wrapped some wire-edged ribbon around the entire base of the bouquet. Then I just tied a bow in the front. It completed the gift perfectly and it looked so cute. You can also write the name of the person you are giving the gift to and tape it to a skewer and add it to the bouquet. It adds a nice, personalized touch. We gave each kid a small candy bouquet.

Crayons aren’t just for coloring. Crayon shaving canvas art is a fun new twist on crayon crafting. It’s super easy and opens up your child’s mind to lots of creativity. Check it out!

So, this crafting project was actually my son’s idea. He wanted to use a blank canvas to melt crayons and create a work of art for his other mom for Mother’s Day. We decided to try it out and the results were so fun!

Supplies for your crayon shaving canvas art

This project doesn’t many supplies and most likely you’ll have most of them at home already. Here’s what you’ll need:

• White canvas
• Crayons
• Pencil sharpener or vegetable peeler
• Parchment paper
• Iron
• Painter’s tape (optional)

Start shaving your crayons

So, this crafting project takes a little bit of prep work. But the good news is that you kids can help too. First, you’ll have to take off all of the paper from each of the crayons.

We tried a bunch of ways to shave the crayons. We even tried a food processor (that was a huge fail). But the process we liked the best was using a vegetable peeler or a good old fashioned pencil sharpener.

Be gentle as you shave the crayons because they break easily. They are easier to work with if they’re not in little pieces. Then set aside the shavings in their own separate containers. Shave as many crayons as you would like.

Create your design

Now for the fun part! Using your crayon shavings, scatter them on your blank canvas in whatever design you would like. You can pick and choose similar colors and patterns or just scatter the colors randomly.

You can also use painter’s tape for your crayon shaving canvas art. We made a mosaic type design and my son cut out a heart and placed it on the canvas. You can also use the tape to form letters and other designs.

Melt the crayon shavings

This next step is a little tricky. Place a piece of parchment paper over the canvas that has crayon shavings on it. Run a hot iron on top of it. Make sure the crayon shavings completely melt. Then, carefully peel away the parchment paper. The melted crayons will form a cool melted design.

Once it’s melted, peel away any painter’s tape and allow the melted crayon shavings to dry. If the crayon melted underneath the painter’s tape, you can simply paint that area with white paint. Then you’re done!

Of course, you can skip all of the crayon shaving and using the iron and use a crayon melter instead. I’ve never personally used one of these myself, but you just insert the crayon and start drawing like a pen. Four out of five stars on Amazon is worth a try.
