Whether you&#8217;re new to this vegetable or you&#8217;ve been eating it for years, here&#8217;s a delicious five-minute recipe that will satisfy you taste buds.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1218" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1218" style="width: 677px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img decoding="async" class="wp-image-1218" src="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-300x225.jpg" alt="Acorn squash" width="677" height="508" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-300x225.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-768x576.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-250x188.jpg 250w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-1200x900.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_173849061-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1218" class="wp-caption-text">Two acorn squash ready to be cooked.</figcaption></figure>
<p><span id="more-1216"></span></p>
<p>We&#8217;ve been growing acorn squash ever since we started our garden four years ago. I was hesitant about this vegetable. Whenever I saw these at the grocery store, they seemed like something intimidating to cook.&nbsp; Boy was I wrong.&nbsp; It&#8217;s soooooo easy.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-1225" src="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acorn-squash_Pinterest-181x300.jpg" alt="" width="606" height="1004" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acorn-squash_Pinterest-181x300.jpg 181w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acorn-squash_Pinterest-768x1274.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acorn-squash_Pinterest-250x415.jpg 250w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Acorn-squash_Pinterest-1200x1991.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px" /></p>
<h1>Microwave</h1>
<p>Don&#8217;t fuss with the stovetop, oven, Instant Pot or slow cooker.&nbsp; All you need is a microwave. Just wash off your squash and put in in the microwave for five minutes. You don&#8217;t have to stab it or even put it on a plate! That&#8217;s it.&nbsp; My squash was extra big, so I put mine in for 10 minutes.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1219" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1219" style="width: 663px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1219" src="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-300x247.jpg" alt="Acorn squash" width="663" height="546" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-300x247.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-768x631.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-1024x842.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-250x206.jpg 250w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-1200x986.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_174000285-600x493.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 663px) 100vw, 663px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1219" class="wp-caption-text">Acorn squash in the microwave.</figcaption></figure>
<h1>Cut and season</h1>
<p>Once your squash is cooked, pull it out of the microwave.&nbsp; Use a towel to hold it since it will be hot. Cut it in half with a knife and then use a large spoon to scoop out the seeds. It&#8217;s much easier to cut the squash after it has been cooked, trust me.</p>
<figure id="attachment_1220" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1220" style="width: 662px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-1220" src="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-284x300.jpg" alt="Acorn squash" width="662" height="699" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-284x300.jpg 284w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-768x811.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-970x1024.jpg 970w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-250x264.jpg 250w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-1200x1267.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/IMG_20180717_175159094-600x634.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1220" class="wp-caption-text">Scooping the seeds from the squash after it has been cooked.</figcaption></figure>
<p>Then, you can leave the two halves of the squash as they are (they make nice bowls) or you can cut them in quarters. I put a dollup of butter on each section and then sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. Delicious!</p>
