<span id="more-3639"></span>

<p>Our efforts to entertain our kids amid the COVID-19 social distancing has proved to be super fun! We decided to try making our own window clings and I wondered why we hadn&#8217;t done them before. Plus, it only took three steps. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1504" height="2400" src="https://i1.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest.jpg?fit=642%2C1024&amp;ssl=1" alt="" class="wp-image-3648" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest.jpg 1504w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-188x300.jpg 188w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-642x1024.jpg 642w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-768x1226.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-963x1536.jpg 963w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-1283x2048.jpg 1283w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-1200x1915.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-560x894.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Window-clings_Pinterest-600x957.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1504px) 100vw, 1504px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #1: Buy or make window clings solution</h3>

<p>So, if you&#8217;re ambitious, you can actually <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://lifeasmom.com/homemade-window-clings/" target="_blank">make your own window clings</a> solution with Elmer&#8217;s glue and food coloring. Or, you can buy <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://amzn.to/2RwruPm" target="_blank">puffy fabric paints</a>, which is what I did. The paints were perfect for tiny details and a plethora of bright colors. Plus, I was just lazy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2400" height="1800" src="https://i2.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731.jpg?fit=840%2C630&amp;ssl=1" alt="Puffy paints for window clings" class="wp-image-3643" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731.jpg 2400w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-300x225.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-768x576.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-1200x900.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-560x420.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_173731-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /><figcaption><a href="https://amzn.to/2RwruPm" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Puffy paints</a> for our window clings</figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #2: Start making your creations</h3>

<p>Gently squeeze the puffy paint onto a piece of plastic such as a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://amzn.to/2xsERsX" target="_blank">gallon Ziploc bag</a> or a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://amzn.to/34AFaOs" target="_blank">sheet protector</a>. You can also print out coloring pages of simple images (car, frog, hamburger, etc.) and slip it inside the plastic. Then you can trace your image. Or you can just make up your own design.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2400" height="1800" src="https://i0.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846.jpg?fit=840%2C630&amp;ssl=1" alt="Window clings" class="wp-image-3644" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846.jpg 2400w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-300x225.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-768x576.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-1200x900.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-560x420.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_132846-600x450.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /><figcaption>My son making his own window cling.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Your designs will work best if you are generous with the puffy paints. The thicker they are, the easier they are to peel off. However, don&#8217;t use too much or the image won&#8217;t be as clear and defined. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2400" height="2336" src="https://i2.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657.jpg?fit=840%2C818&amp;ssl=1" alt="DIY window clings" class="wp-image-3645" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657.jpg 2400w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-300x292.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-1024x997.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-768x748.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-1536x1495.jpg 1536w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-2048x1993.jpg 2048w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-1200x1168.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-560x545.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200331_135657-600x584.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /><figcaption>Cute little rainbow and birdie</figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #3: Peel and hang</h3>

<p>This part is the probably the hardest because you have to wait quite a while for your window clings to dry. Ours took a day and a half to completely dry. If you try to peel them off before they are dry, they will fall apart. So, be patient. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2400" height="2063" src="https://i0.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659.jpg?fit=840%2C722&amp;ssl=1" alt="Homemade window clings." class="wp-image-3646" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659.jpg 2400w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-300x258.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-1024x880.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-768x660.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-1536x1320.jpg 1536w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-2048x1760.jpg 2048w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-1200x1032.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-560x481.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200401_200659-600x516.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /><figcaption>Peeling away our DIY creation.</figcaption></figure>

<p>Once they are dry, carefully peel the clings off the plastic. You might want to let an adult do this part. They are rather fragile. Finally, attach them to a window or mirror in your house and enjoy!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="2400" height="1571" src="https://i0.wp.com/mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809.jpg?fit=840%2C550&amp;ssl=1" alt="DIY window clings" class="wp-image-3647" srcset="https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809.jpg 2400w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-300x196.jpg 300w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-1024x670.jpg 1024w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-768x503.jpg 768w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-1536x1005.jpg 1536w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-2048x1341.jpg 2048w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-1200x786.jpg 1200w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-560x367.jpg 560w, https://mysillysquirts.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/20200402_074809-600x393.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 2400px) 100vw, 2400px" /><figcaption>My son hanging his train window cling on his bedroom window.</figcaption></figure>
