17 of the best board games for toddlers (ages 2-5)
Board games are perfect for family time on a Sunday afternoon. But sometimes our cute little toddlers have a short attention span and a hard time keeping up with their older brothers. Particularly our little 2-year-old who likes to grab all the pieces and throw them. So, I’ve found some awesome board games that are easy enough for our toddlers and fun enough for everyone else.
All of these board games for toddlers have something in common. They are very simple and don’t take very long to play. That’s the key to any toddler board game.
Soggy Doggy
Don’t worry. You don’t get wet at all when you play this game. I didn’t even think it was that great but my kids LOVE it. You never know when the doggy is going to start shaking. Make sure you put a towel underneath the game and play it on the table.

Hot Potato
This game is so simple and that’s why it’s so great. Toss the potato but don’t be caught with it when the music stops. Anyone can play it.
Loopin’ Chewie
Okay, so my kids can’t get enough of this game. We have the original version called Loopin’ Louie but it’s exactly the same. You just hit this plastic bumper that keeps Chewie from knocking down your Storm Troopers. My kids always want to play this board game. It never seems to get old.
Yeti in my Spaghetti
This board game is kind of like Jenga but with plastic spaghetti noodles. I love it and it’s fun to say too.
Jumping Jack
If you pull out the wrong carrot, Jack pops off into the air. Follow the rules or just pull out the carrots over and over.
Let’s go Fishin’
I remember playing this one when I was little. When a game has been around that long, you know it’s a good one.
Perfection
The best part about this board game is that no batteries are required. Plus, it helps your kids practice their shapes.
Don’t break the ice
This game is a little bit hard for little ones to set up, but everyone can participate. Just hit the blocks of ice out with the hammer but don’t let the penguin fall.
Zingo
This is like Bingo with a twist. You just have to be quick and grab the chip that matches the picture on your card before someone else does.
Greedy Granny
This is a dumbed-down version of Don’t Wake Daddy. It is much easier for the little ones because you don’t have a board. You just take items off of Granny’s TV tray and push the button. Super simple and fun!
Don’t Spill the Beans
Stack the beans on top of the pot, but don’t be the one to make it tip over. This one is a lot like Yeti in My Spaghetti and Don’t Break the Ice.
Pie Face
This game only seems to last like 10 minutes, but it’s a fun 10 minutes and my little ones are the funnest to play it with.
Hungry Hungry Hippos
Anyone can push a button and that’s all you have to do with this game. It’s intense and a lot of fun.
Honey Bee Tree
This is one of those fun family board game for toddler. Players must carefully remove leaves without dislodging the sleeping bees. The player with the fewest bees in their tray at the end of the game is the winner.
Lucky Ducks
This is like the carnival game but you can do it at home. I don’t like a lot of matching games for toddlers because they just want to mess up all the cards, but Lucky Ducks is much more interactive and easier for little ones.
Crocodile Dentist
This game has hard any parts so it’s easy to take care of and your kids will love it. Push the teeth in but don’t let the crocodile bite you!
Elefun
This is such a fun game. I compare it to bubbles without the mess. Basically you try to catch all the butterflies that the elephant blows out his trunk. So fun and cute.
