Here’s 10 of the best child proofing products you didn’t know you needed

Alright, let’s be real, I’ve got five kids. So, I am not a novice when it comes to child proofing a home. That’s why, after years parenting experience, I’m giving you the top products to keep your kids and your mind sane. Let’s get started!
#1: Furniture anchors
Years ago, my son was almost crushed by our large dresser. Luckily, I was there when he started climbing up the open drawers like a backyard playset. I stopped the dresser before it fell on him. This scenario can be completely avoided by installing furniture anchors on all of your dressers and tall pieces of furniture.

#2: Cordless blinds
More than 16,000 children in the US were treated in emergency departments for injuries caused by window blinds between 1990 and 2015, an average of almost two children every day, according to NPR.org. Essentially, these cords hang right at the perfect height for children to become entangled and hang themselves. We ALWAYS buy cordless blinds now. No exceptions.

#3: Floor vent trap
I’m not sure how many of you enjoy sticking your hand into your floor vents and pulling out clumps of hair, Cheerios and dead spiders, but I don’t love it. But that is a thing of the past with these awesome floor vent traps. I LOVE them. It catches all of the junk that falls in your floor vents. Clean up is a snap and it makes my life so much easier as a mom.

#4: Toilet lock
The other day my husband found my two-year-old daughter drinking from a cup of toilet water that she had freshly scooped out of the bowl. True story. Obviously, I didn’t have my toilet lock installed. It’s one of those child proofing products that you just have to have.

When my husband was a toddler, he stuck a paper clip into both the holes of an outlet. The electrical current threw his little body across the room. Luckily, he was okay, but outlets are dangerous. Get some plug protectors.

Those little toddler hands love to touch stuff. Stove knobs are no exception. Aside from the fire danger, gas stoves will release carbon monoxide which is of course, very dangerous. Get some stove knob safety covers.

#9: Suction placemats
Inevitably, your baby or toddler will take her bowl of food and throw it onto the floor. You can minimized the frustration though with these awesome suction placemats.

#10: Outdoor water spigot lock
My kids are notorious for turning on the hose in the backyard and then leaving it on for hours and hours. You can prevent flooding and wasted water but throwing a water spigot lock on there. Problem solved.
