The perfect group family gift: Framed Photo Phrase
If you’re looking for ideas for a family gift that grandma and/or grandpa will love, look no further. This framed photo phrase wall hanging is almost guaranteed to spark the water works. Plus it’s super easy! Check it out.
We always run into the conundrum of what to get mom and dad for their birthday. Then, my friend gave me this idea. This framed photo phrase is perfect for any gift-giving occasion. When my mom opened it, she said, “This is my favorite!” She loved it so much. Here’s how I did it.
Choose the right phrase for the family gift
We decided to just have all the grandkids in the photo phrase. So, I had to find a phrase that was exactly 18 letters long. After running through some options, I came up with “We Love Grandma Penny.” It was perfect.
Take photos of each person with their letter
Print out a large letter on 8.5×11 paper that coincides with each member of the family. Make sure it’s the same font and size on each paper. You can email the letters to family members who don’t live close by. We even had my nephew, who is currently serving an LDS mission in Boliva, take a picture with his letter.
Crop and print photos to desired size
I originally printed the photos on 4×6 paper, but when I put all 18 of them together, it would have been difficult to find a frame to fit them inside. So, I cropped each of them down to a cute 2×3 rectangle. They all fit inside a 16×20 frame.
Attach wire mesh to back of frame
Ironically, I found the frame that I wanted to use at a garage sale. It already had a wire mesh attached to the back of the frame. You can easily cut the mesh to size and staple it to the back of the frame.
Position finished photos
To finish off our family gift, I hung each of the photos on some wire draped across the frame. You can use some mini, clear clothespins to attach each photo to the wire. For an added touch, you can attach some paper flower petals.
Give your gift to that special someone
This, of course, is the best part. They will LOVE your family gift! We were so excited to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday and show her how much we love her.
Thanks to my friend, Jenny, for giving me the idea for this family gift in the first place. Her family created the same gift for their parents’ anniversary and they LOVED it.
