Not-So-Pin-Worthy Pinterest birthday cake fails
Birthday cakes. Ugh. Sometimes achieving Pinterest perfection isn’t on my “to do” list. But, making birthday cakes is still a rite of passage for every mother. So, when you’re not really up to pulling out the Martha Stewart inside of you, try settling with these average, not-so-pin-worthy birthday cake Pinterest fails:
Dead deer birthday cake
Yes, you read that correctly. My husband’s birthday happened to fall on the opening day of the hunt. The cake didn’t quite turn out like the photo on Pinterest, but it did get quite a few laughs. One of my many birthday cake fails.

Pirate cake
This one didn’t turn out so bad. But what the heck? I just can’t quite make it look like the picture. Something went horribly wrong with the skull and bones on my sails. Oh well.

Construction cake
The Pinterest cake is obviously a step above. But I didn’t want to drag three kids to Dollar Tree to buy some toy bull dozers and trucks. So, I may or may not have found a tractor in the sandbox in our backyard and washed it off. It was mostly clean.
Bob the Builder cake
I was in a pinch and I already had Bob the Builder cake decorations. So, my 36-year-old husband got a birthday cake fit for a two-year-old. I can confidently say this was a Pinterest fail. Oh well.
Holy cake Batman!
It looked so simple from the photo. Although my batman birthday cake wasn’t perfect. I felt like I did a pretty good job. My little boy loved it too.
Scary Jack O’ Lantern Cake
The frosting on this one was runnier than I thought and I didn’t have a pumpkin cake mold. So, this was the best I could do.
Spotted cake
Technically I didn’t make this cake for a birthday, but I thought it was a good example of being lazy. My cake is cute enough, right?
