Easy peasy DIY ski rack
Skis are super annoying to store unless you have a ski rack. After several years trying to shove our skis into some remote corner of the garage or house, my wonderful husband made our very own 6-person ski rack in less than an hour. Here’s how you can do it too.
As our kids are getting older and we’re slowly becoming a skiing family. Although, my skills are still a bit under par, but it’s cool. Ha ha. And ski equipment for a family of six can take up a lot of space. So, here’s how my hubby built a sweet ski rack.
Gather ski rack supplies
This homemade ski rack doesn’t take too many supplies. You’ll need the following:
- 1 – 2×6 about 7 feet 8 inches long
- 1 – 2×4 about 7 feet 8 inches long
- Sawsall
- Long screws
- Hammer
- Cordless drill
Start building
First, attach the 2×4 to the bottom of the 2×6 with screws (see photo below). Painting your rack is optional. Then, using the sawsall, cut six 3/4″ slits 16 inches apart. You can cut them slanted or straight, however you want the skis to hang.
Attach to the wall
Get an impact drill and some screws and drill screws into the 2×4 section of the ski rack. Make sure you get someone to help you hold it up while you screw it in.
We attached about four skews into the studs on the wall. Then, you can also add screws in between the slats that you can hang your ski poles on.
Now you’re done. Yes! No more dealing with random skis and poles all over. This is in an easy and organized way to store your skis forever!
