I recently stumbled upon two barely-used fondue pots for $7 each. That was a deal I couldn’t pass up! I couldn’t wait to try it out with my kids. This was my first crack at doing fondue and it was so tasty. Plus, I loved all the flavor combinations that I could try. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Here’s how we did it.
Make your cheese fondue
There are a lot of really good recipes out there for fondue. However, I found a super easy recipe that didn’t require alcohol but still that had such a rich flavor to it. Here are the ingredients you’ll need for your fondue:
- 2 cups lightly packed shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 ½ cups lightly packed shredded Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup low-sodium good-quality chicken broth
- ⅛ teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon finely minced or pressed garlic
- ¼ teaspoon ground black or white pepper
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- Dash of paprika
I prepared this fondue in a fondue pot. It made it super easy.
