Five tips to transform your backyard patio
Upgrading your back patio from a blah to cozy isn’t as hard as it seems. With just a few upgrades, your backyard patio can become a haven of relaxation and gathering. Here’s five simple changes you can make today. Check it out!

We recently bought a new home with an amazing back patio with a canopy of trees surrounding it. But it needed a little bit of work. We wanted to create a welcoming, cozy gathering area where we could invite friend or just relax as a family. Here’s everything we did.
#1: Make lots of comfortable sitting areas
Instead of just a simple patio furniture set, we wanted lots of different places where people could sit and chat. So, we bought an outdoor sectional, two egg rocking chairs, a glider bench, a table and benches and a porch swing.

#2: Throw pillows are your friend
A simple sectional or porch swing become an inviting place to sit if you just add a few throw pillows. There are so many outdoor throw pillows to choose from that add a splash of color and comfort. You can thrift them for pretty cheap or find a huge selection at stores like Home Goods and TJ Maxx.

#3: Plants, trees, flowers and more
Even if you don’t have a green thumb and can’t keep any plants alive, you still need greenery on your patio. I added lots and lots of artificial plants that I don’t have to worry about watering. It just makes your patio feel like home.

Try using weighted artificial plants that won’t tip over and fall every time there is a gust of wind. Hanging baskets are also super cute.

#4: Don’t forget the dinner table
Food always brings people together, that’s why every welcoming patio needs a table. I put our table and benches right next to the door to make it easier to put food out at dinner time.

#5: Set the mood with string lights
No backyard patio would be complete without a set of cozy string lights hung up above. We zig zag hung our along the ceiling of our patio. I turn them on every night and love them so much!

I hope you like these tips to making your backyard patio a hidden oasis. Let me know if you have any other tips in the comments below. Here’s a video I made of our patio as well. Enjoy!
