Loaded mini tator tot bites: the perfect party appetizer
The only thing better than fresh tator tots are mini tator tot bites! Here’s the easiest and yummiest recipe and the perfect party appetizer. Check it out!
Jump to RecipeThese loaded mini tator tot bites have all the deliciousness of a loaded baked potato in a cute, mini bite-sized snack. I made these for a recent neighborhood party and they were a huge hit. Plus, they were so easy to make. It’s definitely going on my list of favorite recipes. Let’s get started!
Gather your mini tator tot bites ingredients
This recipe is so simple, you might already have all the ingredients at home already. The main thing that you’ll need for this recipe that you might not have is a mini cupcake pan. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 48-cup mini cupcake pan
- Frozen tator tots
- Shredded cheese
- Sour cream (in a squeeze bottle)
- Bacon
- Green onions
- Pico de gallo (optional)
Cook your tots
I can’t emphasize enough how easy this appetizer is. You’ll thank me later. First, place on tator tot in each of the individual cups on the mini cupcake pan. There should be 48 cups total. Don’t forget to spray the pan first. Then, cook the tator tots in the oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes.
While your tots are cooking, chop up one bunch of green onions and cook about 6 slices of bacon. Once the tator tots are done, allow the pan to cool slightly. Then, take a teaspoon and push the back of the spoon into each of the tator tots while they are still in the pan. It should form each tator tot into a little cup. Sprinkle a little bit of shredded cheese onto each tator tot and then place the pan back into the oven for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.
Display on a tray and add garnish
Once the cheese on the bites has melted in the oven, carefully take each bite out of the pan and place them on a small tray, wooden cutting board or charcuterie board. Then, place a small dollop of sour cream onto each bite. I recommend using the squeeze bottle sour cream. It makes it so much easier. Lastly, sprinkle a little bit of green onion and chopped bacon to each bite. Then, you’re done! Easy, right?
These mini tator tot bites are best when served immediately while they are still warm. You can also place a small bowl of pico de gallo next to your appetizer if you want. It adds a nice little touch. I hope you love these as much as I do. Try them out at your next Christmas, Superbowl or backyard barbeque.
